The Rick Report: Bulls Game #7
Chicago Bulls 100 Washington Wizards 86
Bulls Record Since Trade: 3 - 4
December 29th, 2003

By Brunson Bench Buddy B-Huge.

Over the Christmas break it appears as if Coach Skiles discovered the Bulls formula for success: ride Jamal Crawford. Of course, that seemed to be the plan before Christmas, it's just that Crawford has finally found his stroke. Over the past two games (both Bulls victories) Crawford has played 90 out of 96 minutes and scored 72 points. More minutes for Crawford means less minutes for Rick Brunson, especially when Kirk Hinrich is playing major minutes of his own (45 in this game).

Brunson only tallied 6 minutes of action. His first 5 minutes came at the end of the first quarter and start of the second. In this short span of time the Bulls 10-point lead dropped to 3. Brunson was not seen again until the game's final minute when the Bulls victory was in hand. He finished with 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 foul.

Brunson's lone assist came with 51 seconds left in the game on a pass to none other than Chris Jefferies. This was the most unlikely collaboration since Heatmiser and Coldmiser got together to help save Christmas when Santa was sick.

Game Notes
  • Jamal Crawford made 5 3-pointers in the game. That's the same number he made total in the 5 games before Christmas but he did it taking 37 less shots.
  • Marcus Fizer was effectively showcased for possible trades by contributing 0 points and 2 turnovers in 3 minutes.
  • Ball Hog of the game: Wizard guard Larry Hughes had 22 points on 20 shots with 0 assists.

Does this look official?  It ain't. (C) 2003 Rick Brunson Fan Club -
