The Rick Report: Game #3
Minnesota Timberwolves 73 Toronto Raptors 56
Toronto 2-1
November 2nd, 2003

The pundits will be debating for years about whether this game was Scottie Pippen ugly or Sam Cassell ugly. The Raptors broke just about every franchise record for offensive futility. They shot 27.5% from the floor and only scored 19 baskets total. But wait, here's the realpunch line: this was all against a team that started Mark Madsen. Think about that. Let it sink in a moment. Mark fucking Madsen.

The Rick Report
Remember when the small forward position was one where a team would generate a lot of offence. Well last night's starting small forwards were Michael Curry and the aforementioned Madsen. For the first time and probably last time all season Curry outscored his counterpart by a 4 to 1 margin. Madsen on the other hand out-rebounded Curry 6 to 0. Does this give you an indication about how horrible this game was? A whole paragraph is being wasted on the Curry vs. Madsen match-up. Don't even get me started on Hoiberg vs. Palacio. NBA Action, it's faaaaaan-tastic.

The good news was that this game was so shitty that the scrubs got some minutes. The highly praised free agent signing of Jerome Moiso finally paid off as Moiso rocked the Target Center with 2 points and 3 rebounds. Mengke Bateer was 1 for 1 from the field! Somebody even woke Chris Jefferies up in time for the final two minutes and he even made a basket! That's more than Alvin Williams or Morris Peterson can say. On the Minnesota side Ndudi Ebi saw two minutes of action. Here's hoping he goes all Nene on us and drops the last name.

Game Notes
  • Bateer, Jefferies, Moiso, and Chris Bosh shot a combined 62.5% while the rest of the Raptors were 23.0% from the field.
  • Normally one would be impressed with JYD's 9 offensive rebounds but he probably just couldn't help it with all those missed shots.
  • Lamond Murray, the supposed offensive sparkplug off the bench, is shooting 28.1% for the season.

Does this look official?  It ain't. (C) 2003 Rick Brunson Fan Club -
