The Rick Report: Game #2
Toronto Raptors 82
Washington Wizards 79
Toronto 2-0
November 1st, 2003
The Raptors are undefeated in The Brunson Era! Of course it has only been two games but never before have the Raptors started the season with two wins and we suspect that it is because never before have the Raptors had Rick Brunson cheering them on. We couldn't quite see the huddle but we're pretty sure Brunson was whispering in Vince Carter's ear just before he made one of the sweetest in-traffic passes you will ever see to Chris Bosh for the game-winning basket.
This game looked an awful lot like the first one. We all hope this isn't a continuing pattern. The Raps stink it up early and then rally in the second half. This time the Raptors even set a franchise record for the worst offensive first half with 27 points. Fortunately they were only playing the Wizards. If they dig themselves a hole like this against Minnesota, they are likely to get buried alive. It's enough to make us worry about the wisdom of making Michael Curry a starter. Although he is supposed to be some defensive specialist the Raptors clearly seem to be at a disadvantage when he's on the court against the opponents' number one team.
Although the Raptors shot a horrendous 38.6% from the field, Antonio Davis's dominated the offensive glass with 7 rebounds there and 15 total. AD's performance wasn't the only one to crow about as JYD added some offense to his game by putting down 17 points to go with his 13 rebounds. Lamond Murray had his best shooting game as a Raptor nailing 50% on his way to 12 points. On the downside Curry, Alvin Williams and Milt Palacio shot a combined 3 for 21. More nights like this and Brunson will be leading the Raptors on the floor instead of from the bench... er, we mean, once he recovers from that near-fatal bout of LQC.

- Supposedly clever Raptor free-agent signee Jerome Moiso still hasn't played yet this year.
- Morris Peterson had 7 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. It's amazing how earning your time on the court works much more effectively than bitching about it.
- Rumour has it the team went out to a Hallowe'en costume party after the game. Rick Brunson dressed up as a basketball player.

Hallowe'en is a special night for dressing up and noted basketball fashion maven Rick Brunson was in fine form tonight.
Ricky was sporting a sharp beige suit. Yes beige...
Beige...
BEIGE!
Beige never goes out of style. Just by looking at my picture you wouldn't know it but I'm quite partial to beige.
I think beige is the new black. Or is that the new red? No wait, red is the new black and beige is the new red, which makes black the new beige.
Whatever!
AllI can say is that Rick Brunson is the new Lancey Lust-Object.
