The Rick Report: Pre-Season Game #3
Toronto Raptors 90, Minnesota Timberwolves 76
October 16th, 2003
Brunson!!
Hoiberg!!
NBA action, it's FAN-tastic!
Actually, Fred "The Mayor" Hoiberg didn't play. He has a bruised right heel. The sporting world was denied a showdown between last year's Dream Backcourt.

| Also not playing for the Timberwolves were Latrell Sprewell (sore Achilles), Sam Cassell (sore foot), Michael Olowokandi (left knee), Wally Szczerbiak (plantar fascia), and Mark Madsen (sucks, er, I mean groin strain). So I guess Raptors fans should keep their enthusiasm in check as they beat a team that started Quincy Lewis and Jason Collier.
One person who did get in the game was Raptor Super-Sub Rick Brunson! It was his first non-Greek exhibition game action of the season. For a whopping six minutes Rick Brunson brought his awesome skills, now known as The Heart Attack, onto the court against the Timberwolves. Unfortunately, this game wasn't on television (Please tell me again why we have a Raptors TV channel?) but judging by the box score Rick got on the court and immediately ran to the corner and stood there for six minutes of game time. Look at his line on the score sheet. There are practically tumbleweeds rolling through it. Rick recorded 0 points, 0 assists, 0 rebounds, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 0 turnovers, 0 fouls. He did attempt one shot from the field. It was probably one of those court-length hoists at the end of the game.
Chris Bosh had another night for fans to get excited about with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Of course he was probably matched up against Reggie Slater or Gary Trent most of the night so I wouldn't get too excited. At least he's getting some good minutes and using them well. The Raptors have now beaten the Greek Champs, the Central Division winners, and a team from the vaunted Western Conference. Soon they will be going on Monday Night RAW to demand a title shot from NBA Commissioner David Stern.
