Behind The Locker Room Door
Exclusive Gossip from Lance Fabolous
October 8th, 2003
Hey all you Brunson Bench Buddies out there! Another Raptor season is upon us and that means another gossip season is upon us as well. I, Lance Fabolous, will bring you all the Raptor dirt over the course of the next 8 months... maybe longer if Brunson takes us to the promised land! Even though training camp is just underway I have much to spill about all your Raptor heroes so enough with the formalities. Let's sling some shit!

She's A Little Bit Country, He's A Little Bit Weird

Step aside Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Get out of the way Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake. The hottest older woman/younger man celebrity combo is now country queen Shania Twain and Toronto Raptor forward Jerome "Junk-Yard Dog" Williams. The couple were spotted Friday afternoon at the Air Canada Centre. She was wearing a sleek and sleeveless red outfit while JYD stuck with his Mr.Blackwell-offending knee socks. Although they both deny that their relationship is anything more than professional JYD was seen giving Shania one of his headbands and claiming that she was a "member of The Dog Pound." Complicating matters is that Shania is married to music producer Mutt Lange. Mutt could not be reached for comment but this columnist can't let this item end without pointing out Shania's canine fascination. Who's next, Snoop Dogg or Lil Bow Wow? One thing is for sure, if this relationship continues look for JYD to lead the league in backcourt violations.

Berome Have Split Up

Jerome "J-Mo" Moiso arrived in camp distraught with his very public break-up with Hollywood hunk Ben Affleck. He's hoping that the intense rigors of training camp will help him get his mind off the terrible heartbreak of losing the love of his life. Unfortunately, the only reason J-Mo decided upon signing with Toronto during the off-season was Ontario's new marriage laws but now that the relationship is over he feels glad that at least he didn't relocate to Boston.

In It For The Long Haul

Unfortunately I missed Raptor Media Day on Thursday but I can tell you that an unnamed source claims that Antonio Davis is looking for a new house. I'm not sure where AD's new digs will be but it's encouraging to hear that he's putting down roots in the Toronto area. The team fell on hard times last year but AD looks like he'll work hard to turn everything around. But then again, what kind of committment would you expect from a $12 million dollar a year player and co-captain of the team?

Raptor Trivia

Here's a quick fact for all you Mengke Bateer fans out there: He likes Chinese food!

Balanced Reporting

A certain Toronto Star reporter has been disturbing the Raptor hive with articles about Vince Carter's off-season work habits and Alvin Williams distinctive gimp gait. Will this strain the realtionship between the paper and the team? Rumour has it that The National Post got shut out a couple times last year for negative reporting. Interestingly enough this same reporter worked for the Post last year. Fortunately Doug Smith is sucking enough ass to keep the Raptors happy for now.

Out of Africa

I don't want to ruin Raptor GM Glen Grunwald's plans but rumour has it he's very interested in signing a certain free agent who's very tall, a dominant shot-blocker and from Africa. It'll be nice to see Manute Bol in the league again.

Poverty, World Peace and Butt-Slapping

An anonymous Raptor guard is perturbed that there is a humour website out there dedicated to him. He wonders if these people have nothing better to do with their time. Maybe they could be using their time more wisely like, say, sitting on a bench for 2.5 hours, 82 times a year and getting paid a million bucks to do it.

Does this look official?  It ain't. (C) 2003 Rick Brunson Fan Club -
