Lenard Signs With Denver
Brunson Pumps Fist, Exclaims "Yes!" Under His Breath
September 11th, 2003

Veteran shooting guard Voshon Lenard has agreed to a multiyear contract with the Denver Nuggets. Last season Lenard earned the veteran minimum plus incentives of close to $900,000 with the Toronto Raptors.

Although Lenard is now gaining the some long-term security, many here at Rick Brunson .com feel that Lenard couldn't handle the pressure of competing with Rick Brunson for court time this year. The competition amongst the guards for a spot on the Raptors figures to be quite intense with Brunson, Milt Palacio, Michael Curry, and... uh... other guards competing for time behind starters Alvin Williams and Morris Peterson. By jumping to the Nuggets all Lenard has to do is beat out a bunch of Europeans (i.e. white guys) like Sani Becirovic, Predrag Savovic, and Jon Barryovic.

Of course it is possible that Voshon Lenard was simply taken by the Nuggets brand new powder-blue uniforms.

Upon receiving word that Lenard had signed with the Nuggets the Toronto Raptors' issued this press release:

"We wish Voshon Lenard the best of luck in his new home. We appreciate all his hard work last season. Certainly we shall miss his 14.3 points per game but those will be replaced by all the intangible stuff that Rick Brunson brings to the bench. We hope. Holy shit, he's one spot closer to actually getting on the court."

Does this look official?  It ain't. (C) 2003 Rick Brunson Fan Club -
